Remember the feeling, really try and keep those gym thoughts close. Keep thinking about how much you deadlifted and how much you think you would be able to lift in a years time. Remember the feeling the day after squats. Keep going and keep a journal of how your progressing session after session. This is a massive part of trying to cope with your thoughts and dreams. After time this 75% of what your thinking about all day. You have to keep it up though, if you break this you can quickly fall back into a depressive state of mind and stop going.

KEEPING A DIARY OR JOURNAL OF YOUR PROGRESS IN THE GYM AND IN YOUR MIND

Keeping a journal can significantly benefit both gym training and mental health by providing a structured outlet for tracking progress and emotions. In the realm of gym training, a journal serves as a valuable tool to document workouts, track performance metrics like weights lifted or distances run, and monitor fitness goals. This detailed record not only helps individuals stay organized but also enables them to identify patterns, strengths, and areas for improvement over time. By establishing a routine of journaling before or after workouts, individuals can cultivate a sense of accountability and motivation, ultimately enhancing their consistency and dedication to their fitness regimen.

Moreover, journaling plays a crucial role in supporting mental health alongside physical fitness. Writing about one's experiences, thoughts, and feelings related to gym training provides a therapeutic outlet to process emotions and reduce stress levels. It allows individuals to reflect on their achievements and setbacks in a constructive manner, fostering a positive mindset and resilience. Additionally, journaling can help uncover underlying motivations for pursuing fitness goals and promote self-awareness, which are fundamental aspects of maintaining holistic well-being. By integrating journaling into their gym routine, individuals not only improve their physical health but also nurture their mental and emotional wellness, creating a harmonious balance between body and mind.

Exercises to work on when first starting out

DEADLIFTS

SQUATS

BENCH

PRESSES

CORE

I found this worked best for focus which is what you need to do to keep those thoughts and feelings down.

Keeping track of your progress is the most important factor needed to keep focus, seeing what you've been able to achieve over the last few weeks, months or years keeps you going, mentally and physically.

Along with the training add notes of how your state of mind was the day your were training, try and add in a before and after thought to see if there is any change due to the workout or whether its just that day.

You will start to see a pattern and then you can use this to your own advantage and really push yourself out the hole, you really do need to push though, nothing comes free and without hard work and sacrifice.

NEW AND IMPROVED ONE STOP GYM SHOP

After a tragic loss I have had to learn how to cope with mental health on my own, exercise daily, even for a quick walk.
